But, not surprisingly, it got messed up and it looks like I deleted the EFI partition of my Macbook (Retina, 12-inch, Early 2015). When I rebooted the machine, at first it wouldn't boot. By holding down the option key, it opened up recovery mode, asked me to enter wifi credentials and then choose a boot disk. Type sudo mkdir /boot/efi to create the standard mount point for the EFI System Partition (ESP). Type sudo mount /dev/sda1 /boot/efi to mount the ESP at /boot/efi. (Change /dev/sda1 if your ESP has an unusual partition number.) You can use gdisk to check the ESP's number, if you like. Type ls /boot/efi.
