Fender doesn't have basses made in Indonesia. But Squier does. Since at least the year 2000. I have a Indonesian Squier that was made in 2000. The serial number starts with 'IC00' which means 'Indonesia Cort 2000 I think. DATING SQUIER GUITARS BY REFERENCE OF SERIAL NUMBERS. From 1982 Fender Squiers are also produced outside the USA, in that year the production startedin Japan. The Korean Fender Squiers were produced from 1988, but there were no serial numbers until mid-1993 documented. Other low-budget countries followed, like China, Indonesia and India.

For Japanese serial number dating see Fenders site. Stagemaster Deluxe (neck-thru maple necks with basswood wings), and the Double Fat Tele Deluxe (all solid. IC = Made in Indonesia by Cort (solid agathis from 1998), followed by 2-digit year. Including reissues like Jazzmasters and Mustangs.

I bought a Squier Affinity Strat last Dec. and on checking the serial number I got this from Google.
Indonesian Squiers
IC: I = Indonesia, C = Cor-Tek (Cort), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. IS: I = Indonesia, S = Samick, the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. For example 'IC02' Made in 2002. In 2009-10 some Indonesian Squier's had the prefix ICS09XXXXX and ICS10XXXXX. There are a number of standard models that have the ICS prefix some are FSR but some are just normal run models. It therefore appears as though the the S in ICS is only an indication as to whether it is a Factory Special Run or FSR guitar (manufactured by Cor-Tek in Indonesia). It also appears likely that any FSR guitar beginning with ICS will be a Squier 'Standard' as opposed to any of the other models i.e. CV, Deluxe etc.
My serial number is ICS10207241 so I know the year, but is there any other way I can determine the difference between a Standard and Affinity?

Some Squiers that are sold only in the Chinese and Asian markets, starting with usually the serial number
CXS: the 'X' stands for 'Axl'.
